The Character-Based Literacy program promotes core virtues and 21st Century life skills while advancing students’ reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and listening skills. It is based on the research-based practice of using stories to promote core values such as kindness, responsibility, and justice. The program has been used by more than sixty counties and school districts in the US. You will find detailed lesson plans for multiple genres including realistic fiction, fantasy, non-fiction, and drama. Each lesson plan includes writing prompts and a quiz. The lesson plans include deeper learning questions and graphic organizers. Each lesson plan is written for use both in the traditional classroom and for independent study.
