Dear Undergraduates:
I hope the start of your summer is going well. I write with some important information you will need if you are taking classes this summer, including updates on registration; billing; financial aid; Pass/No Pass; important dates; course load limits; and Library and Learning Commons.
I am pleased to announce the launch of a new Summer Tutoring pilot program and the extension of the Summer Sessions Grant program that launched in the spring. Additional information about these programs is provided below.
Summer Course Information
Registration
Summer is a great time to fulfill Core, major, and minor requirements. If you are considering enrolling in summer classes, you have until the last day to add a summer class as noted on the Summer Sessions 2021 calendar. Payment of all costs is required before Santa Clara will register students for their summer courses. Please email One Stop or call (408) 551-1000 for assistance.
Billing
For those of you who are enrolled in summer classes, the latest summer bills were made available to view on eCampus on June 1, and tuition is due by June 21. If someone else pays your tuition, please notify the individual that your summer bill is now available. Authorized Payers can view the billing statement using the Authorized Payer site, SCU Pay.
Financial Aid
If you have already inquired about summer financial aid eligibility, please log into eCampus to ensure any summer financial aid has been accepted. If you are interested in learning more about financial aid eligibility for the summer term, please email One Stop, or call (408) 551-1000.
Pass/No Pass Policy
Pass/No Pass (P/NP) returned to the standard policy this summer.Students may take one summer class P/NP. Information about the policy is available in the 2020-2021 Undergraduate Bulletin. The deadlines to declare P/NP for summer classes are posted on the Summer Sessions 2021 calendar.
Summer Sessions Calendar
Please review the Summer Sessions 2021 calendar for important information, including tuition refund dates. Please be especially mindful of the deadlines to drop classes to receive 100% tuition refund (less fees). It is critical that all class drop activity is completed prior to the posted deadlines, which are in Pacific Daylight Time.
July 5 (Independence Day Observed) is an administrative holiday but not an academic holiday; offices will be closed, but classes still meet. Additionally, July 6-9 will be administrative closure days for Santa Clara staff, as announced by Acting President Kloppenberg. Although offices will be closed, classes will still meet during this time.
Summer Course Load Limits Policy
The intensive pace of Sessions 1, 2, and 3 require the following restrictions on summer course loads:
- Session 1: Students may not enroll in more than 10 units during this session.
- Session 2: Students may not enroll in more than 10 units during this session.
- Session 3 (A, B and C): Students may not enroll in or attend more than one Session 3 lab science (chemistry or physics) course at a time. If enrolled in or attending a Session 3 lab science course, students may not be simultaneously enrolled in or attending a Session 1, 2, or 4 course.
COVID-19 Protocols
All students and faculty participating in in-person classes are required to wear masks and maintain 3-feet social distancing at all times. Individuals participating in in-person classes are required to be vaccinated or tested weekly for COVID-19 through our campus testing clinic. You may register your vaccination status at the Cowell Health Center between 9am-12pm Monday and Tuesday of each week. If you have already registered your vaccination status, you do not need to register it again. If you have not registered your vaccination status, you are required to be tested weekly for COVID-19. Please visit Prepared SCU for more information about SCU’s COVID-19 Testing Protocol.
Summer Sessions Grant - Round II
The $1,000 Summer Sessions Grants are for current Santa Clara undergraduate, degree-seeking students who are enrolled in a four or five unit undergraduate SCU summer class.
